Thomas Watkiss is an American visual artist and experimental musician. He uses various materials and tools in creating organic and abstract movements dealing with themes of nature and post-industrial reality. He started exhibiting while in undergrad and counterbalances the non-figurative movements of his visual pieces with his recordings of ambient music. He has developed his creative angles with a double B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh (2003) and an M.A. from Konstfack, Stockholm Sweden (2006). He is as avid visual arts enthusiast and has worked with contemporary art institutions and events such as The Mattress Factory (Pittsburgh), The Snow Show (Lapland '04, Torino '06), Art Basel (Miami) and Färgfabriken (Stockholm). He has also curated and co-curated several exhibitions with the CuratorLab program at Konstfack including the multi-media performance and installation exhibition, RESONANCE for various locations in Stockholm, 2005. He is currnently showing eith the aPolitic exhibition of Gallery XIV at the Massachusetts State House, Boston and with Stiftelsen3,14 in Bergen Norway. Most recently, he has completed a series of recordings from an Artist-in-Residence at USF, Bergen Norway.
